I hope I can meet your wife and your amazing family someday. :)

I agree about experience being a huge contributor to growth but the question I come back to is this: Why does it have to be one or the other? Can't it be both? And shouldn't it be when we are talking about educating young minds?

I've been chewing on that for a few days now. Maybe that will be a future blog post! ;)

Let's keep in touch!
JenJenneferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13654642651122725268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8719499255804821889.post-80908154852742229292010-08-03T09:43:51.804-05:002010-08-03T09:43:51.804-05:00Jen - coincidence - we use a Charlotte Mason based...Jen - coincidence - we use a Charlotte Mason based curriculum, too. Small world.

Socialization is the question people ask that drives me crazy. Everyone has a pre-conceived notion that homeschooled children that are socially inept. In reality, they seem to be able to relate maturely to their peers as well as adults... at least in my experience. I don't remember who, but a homeschool mom told my wife, "I'd rather my third grader be *able* to communicate with adults, too, rather than just other third graders!"

Ahhh, Spanish 5! I remember more about that class and the people in it, than I do about my science & math classes that I "use" in my career. My favorite spanish word is still "albondigas". The more I "grow", the more I think growth is about the experience rather than the knowledge.Scott Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06701062824204753396noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8719499255804821889.post-7022263209333426982010-07-24T08:14:13.297-05:002010-07-24T08:14:13.297-05:00My reasons for getting into homeschooling and cont...My reasons for getting into homeschooling and continuing with it are so similar to yours. It's so good to be reminded of those reasons though, especially with a new school year fast approaching.Kelliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16095729633573268457noreply@blogger.com
